This boston handbag, made of Chirimen fabric, is ideal for outing.
A Chirimen (crepe fabric) is a textile which has small crimps made by twisting threads on the surface of the fabric. Weaving the weft of raw silk thread, which is twisted tightly, creates uneven texture on the fabric. Silk Chirimen is mostly used for kimonos. Our chirimen items are made of traditional polyester chirimen for daily use and for easy care.
The Chirimen was introduced during the Azuchi-Momoyama period (about the 16th century), and became popular nationwide in the Edo period (about the 17th century).
